We Care We Share is a 501 (c)(3) organization which was established in 2007, through the grace of God. We Care We Share responded to a need by Second Harvest Food Bank to replace a food pantry that had closed in South Lorain. Since 2009, We Care We Share has provided services to hundreds of thousands of low-income individuals and families in Lorain County, through our food pantry, clothing/shoe distribution closet, health and nutrition classes, health fairs, and a variety of other programs and services. We are an all volunteer organization funded by donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations.
In 2014, the city of Lorain, through the Lorain Port Authority, gave We Care We Share a large property with 2 abandoned buildings that we rehabilitated. One is now a Community Center and the other serves as our Food Pantry/ Clothing Closet. We currently share our space with local groups (Caresource, Assurance, Genesis House, Lorain County General Health district, Family Solutions, and others) on a monthly basis to provide additional services and to be a one stop shop for our guests. We are also teaming with Ascent Risk Management Group to place workers that can’t do their regular jobs on light duty at our facility until they return to work.
We have collaborated with many groups some of which include the Lorain County Community Action Agency, the Lorain City Health Department, the Lorain County General Health District, Girl Scouts of America, Oberlin College student Group, Knights of Columbus (Lorain), Elyria Catholic High School, Amherst Schools, Lorain County Community College, and Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio.
Our goal is to equip people with tools they need to help themselves. We seek to provide education, job skills, and self worth. We plan to open a business as a way to train and employ people. We can always use help! If you wish to contribute in any way, please contact us! Thanks for caring and sharing!
